India Defends G20 Kashmir Venue, Countering Pakistan Criticism
NEW DELHI (Reuters) – India on Thursday countered Pakistan’s objection to the holding of Group of 20 (G20) conferences within the Himalayan areas of Kashmir and Ladakh, saying it was free to carry conferences by itself territory.
Kashmir is claimed in full however dominated partly by the 2 nuclear-armed neighbours who’ve fought two of three wars over management of the area.
Jammu and Kashmir was a state having particular privileges till 2019, when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s authorities cut up it into two federally managed territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Islamabad condemned India’s determination to carry the assembly within the two territories earlier this week, calling the transfer an irresponsible violation of worldwide legislation.
“G20 occasions and conferences are taking place throughout India and it is solely pure to do them in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, that are an integral and inalienable a part of India,” Indian International Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi instructed reporters.

India at the moment holds the rotating year-long presidency of the G20 and is about to host a summit in New Delhi in September.

Pakistan’s international ministry issued an announcement condemning the selection of venues.
