Dozens Arrested in Germany in European Probe of Italian Organised Crime


FRANKFURT (Reuters) – German police arrested dozens of individuals throughout the nation on Wednesday in an investigation of the Italian Ndrangheta organised crime group, German public prosecutors and state police stated.

The crackdown was a part of a coordinated probe by investigators in Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Portugal and Spain in addition to Europol and Eurojust, they stated.

Amongst these arrested had been 4 folks in Bavaria, 15 in North Rhine-Westphalia, and 10 within the southwestern German state of Rhineland Palatinate, and police seized potential proof at dozens of places together with houses and workplaces.

The suspects are accused of cash laundering, prison tax evasion, fraud and smuggling of medicine, the prosecutor’s workplaces of Duesseldorf, Koblenz, Saarbruecken and Munich stated in a joint assertion with state police in Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland Palatinate and Saarland.
