Conservation herd repopulating bison on Native American lands
Following a short ceremony April 17 that included the burning of sage and the singing of Native American prayers, 5 bison from the Laramie Foothills Conservation Herd have been loaded into trailers sure for the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
On April 18, 12 extra have been loaded into trailers sure for the Crow Reservation in Montana.
The week earlier than, seven bison from the herd have been despatched to the Grand Portage Reservation in Minnesota and 7 extra to the Oneida Nation in Wisconsin.
The conservation herd, launched in 2015 to lift wholesome bison to complement current bison herds and begin new ones throughout the nation, is doing simply that.
