Alabama Jail System Raises Officer Pay to Recruit Workers

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The Alabama jail system is elevating pay for correctional officers starting Thursday in an effort to handle an ongoing workers scarcity.

The beginning pay for a correctional officer trainee will rise from a minimal of $33,381 to a minimal of $50,712, with extra pay for individuals who work at excessive safety services. The beginning pay at a medium safety facility shall be $53,244 and $55,855 at a most safety facility.
