Authorities say about 25 prepare vehicles have derailed in northwestern Montana
PARADISE, Mont. — About 25 prepare vehicles derailed Sunday in northwestern Montana, with no accidents or evacuations reported, authorities stated.
The vehicles, which weren’t believed to be carrying something hazardous, derailed close to the city of Paradise alongside the Clark Fork River, stated Invoice Brown, a dispatcher with the Sanders County Sheriff’s Workplace.
Firefighters and representatives of Montana Rail Hyperlink, which was working the prepare, have been responding and investigating what the vehicles have been carrying, he stated.
Pictures posted on social media present a few of the vehicles showing to dip simply into the river.
The prepare vehicles didn’t launch any hazardous supplies, Montana Rail Hyperlink stated in a press release. The corporate stated the reason for the derailment was being investigated.
“We’re dedicated to addressing any impacts to the realm on account of this accident, prioritizing the protection of our workers and the general public, and understanding the explanations for this incident,” the corporate stated.
Montana’s U.S. Sens. Steve Daines and Jon Tester stated in separate tweets that they have been monitoring the derailment and have been in contact with native officers.
Federal regulators and members of Congress are urging railroads to do extra to stop derailments after latest fiery wrecks involving hazardous chemical substances in Ohio and Minnesota prompted evacuations.
