A.J. Brown’s X account got weird with ‘fake’ twist over Travis Kelce’s Super Bowl 2024 outburst

A.J. Brown’s supposed X account is having an interesting Super Bowl.

It started when the account — @1kalwaysopen_ — returned from a hibernation of more than a month to post after Travis Kelce screamed at Chiefs coach Andy Reid during Super Bowl 2024 on Sunday

“If that was me I would’ve been kicked out the league,” the Eagles’ controversial receiver tweeted.

That tweet received strong engagement, with at least 2,700 retweets and 15,000 likes.

Just 18 minutes later, the account posted a new message claiming that the account no longer belongs to Brown.

“This is a fake AJ brown page . I’m just a fan. I’m not trying to get him in trouble with what I say lol,” the post read.

The account then doubled down on that claim after Eagles cornerback Darius Slay claimed he spoke to Brown and the wide receiver did not post that tweet about the Kelce reaction.

“Just talk to AJ that wasn’t him,” Slay tweeted.

The supposed Brown account quote tweeted that comment with the caption: “Tell him I will give him his page back for a sign jersey please 🙏🏾.”

It’s certainly possible the account no longer belongs to Brown since he deactivated his X account prior to the Eagles’ loss to the Buccaneers in the wild-card round.

The account had not posted since Jan. 10 — five days before that game — before popping up with three tweets during Super Bowl 2024.

Slay’s tweet also lends credence to that argument.

Or maybe Brown is trying to cover his tracks and indicate he’s been hacked or lost control of his account.

Either way, that account certainly attracted some viewers and continued what’s been an unusual month-plus for the star receiver.

He suffered an injury in Week 18 that sidelined him for the loss to the Buccaneers, and also removed Eagles references from his Instagram account in addition to deactivating his X account.

Some trade rumors have swirled.

That first tweet from the account came after Kelce unloaded on Reid for removing him from the field before a potentially game-changing fumble.

Following a 52-yard pass from Patrick Mahomes to Mecole Hardman, Isiah Pacheco took a handoff and ran toward the end zone on first-and-goal from the nine-yard line but coached up the ball.

Kelce was on the sideline for the play, with backup Noah Gray handling the blocking duties.

Gray could not hold 49ers defensive back Deommodore Lenoir, who poked the ball loose.

The 49ers then jumped on the ball to force the critical turnover while nursing a 3-0 advantage.

Kelce bumped Reid while screaming at him, with CBS Sports reporter Tracy Wolfson reporting that the 34-year-old threw his helmet.

The Chiefs ultimately did not score a touchdown in the first half and entered halftime trailing, 10-3.

Kelce and Reid eventually hugged it out.
