What she did not point out on the time was that she was already newly smitten with Momastery blogger Glennon Doyle.

No stranger to overcoming private points, Doyle battled bulimia at a younger age and drank and did medicine in school, ultimately deciding to get sober in 2002 when she bought pregnant along with her first baby. (When she came upon she was anticipating, she married her now-ex-husband, as a result of “I believed it was the appropriate factor to do,” she told Glamour.com.)

“I would by no means even kissed a woman, so I had no context for what was about to occur to me,” Doyle divulged on MamaMia’s No Filter podcast in Might 2020. “However when Abby walked within the room, I am telling you, it was like that [inner] voice that I had been working towards listening to and trusting [after my separation] simply screamed. My complete self was like ‘there she is,’ and I simply knew.”

A few month later they began corresponding, Doyle recalled, and a month after that, “I sat down with Craig and stated, ‘It is over. I am in love.’ By the way in which, Abby and I had by no means seen one another outdoors of that room. We spent 10 minutes collectively after which dismantled our whole lives to be collectively.”

As Wambach recalled to the New York Times, “We could not have been a worse match for one another. Glennon had a husband and three youngsters and lived in Naples, Fla. I would been sober for a month, my marriage was falling aside, I’d simply left my soccer profession of 30 years and I lived in Portland, Ore.”
