A woman disguised as a nurse was caught on camera allegedly snatching a newborn from an El Salvador hospital — before brazenly stashing the baby in a backpack and fleeing.

Harrowing surveillance footage captured the alleged impostor nurse clutching the infant in her arms as she walked through the maternity unit at the San Juan de Dios hospital in San Miguel last Saturday.

The woman, who was dressed in scrubs, had allegedly told the baby’s mom that she was taking the infant to be immunized.

Once she reached the hallway, the alleged perp could be seen putting the swaddled baby into her backpack, slinging it over her shoulder and then calmly strolling toward the hospital exit.

Cops said the baby was found safe roughly two hours later following a widespread search.

“He is being treated by specialist doctors to rule out any injuries,” the National Civil Police of El Salvador said in a statement at the time.

A man and woman who were posing as the baby’s parents were arrested, cops said.

Meanwhile, the woman allegedly posing as the nurse was still at large, authorities added.

“We continue the search for the woman who pretended to be a nurse and for any other individuals who may be involved,” police said.

Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele was among those to hail the baby’s recovery and subsequent arrests, posting on X: “The real human rights. Thank God.”
