Who is Wade Robson? Britney Spears cheated on Justin Timberlake with choreographer
[ad_1]
Let’s take a trip down memory lane, back to when the Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake love saga took over the headlines.
In 2003, the former NSYNC frontman, now 42, dropped his catchy Timbaland-produced tune, “Cry Me a River.”
The single alluded to Spears, 41, allegedly cheating on him during their relationship.
Now, the songstress is releasing more tidbits about her romance with Timberlake in her upcoming book, “The Woman in Me.”
Spears apparently confesses in the book to having an affair with dancer Wade Robson while she was still with the “Social Network” actor.
“We were out one night and we went to a Spanish bar. We danced and danced. I made out with him that night,” the “Toxic” singer admits in the book, according to the Sun.
But she writes that she and Timberlake “agreed to move past” the infidelity, as normally she was “loyal to Justin” and “only had eyes for him.”
Elsewhere in her book, Spears revealed that she had an abortion after finding out that she was pregnant with the boyband leader’s baby in the early 2000s.
“I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” wrote the “Toxic” singer in an excerpt obtained by People ahead of the novel’s Oct. 24 release. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”
She also claimed that Timberlake cheated on her as well with “another celebrity.”
So what really went down between the choreographer and Spears? And what about his own career?
Keep reading to take a look back at Robson’s time in Hollywood.
History with Britney Spears
Robson was hired to design the dance moves for Spears’ 1999 and 2000 world tours, and he appeared in her “(You Drive Me) Crazy” video.
Rumors have swirled for years that he secretly got lucky with Spears while she was still dating Timberlake.
The two pop stars dated from 1999 until 2002. She allegedly started dating Robson for a year after her split from Timberlake.
Both Spears and Robson have never publicly discussed their relationship.
She even gushed over him during a 2000 “Good Morning America” interview, saying: “He’s just like a child prodigy, seriously … He’s a genius. He’s amazing.”
Michael Jackson Allegations
Robson was involved with the child sexual abuse allegations against the late Michael Jackson.
The “Smooth Criminal” singer — who died in 2009 at age 50 — was accused in 1993 of abuse. Robson, just 10 years old at the time, told the authorities that nothing had happened between them.
Robson had met Jackson when he was 5 and, just two years later, the former Jackson 5 member invited him and his family to stay with him at the star’s Los Olivos, California, abode, Neverland Ranch.
In 2005, the “Thriller” musician was put on trial and charged with child sexual abuse. Robson claimed that Jackson had never inappropriately touched him when he was younger.
But in 2013, Robson filed a civil lawsuit against the Jackson estate, alleging that Jackson actually had abused him, from 1990 to 1997.
The 2019 documentary “Leaving Neverland” details Robson’s accusations.
Career Highlights
The Australian-born dancer made a name for himself in the entertainment industry as a choreographer for commercials and music videos.
He helmed Spears’s infamous Pepsi commercials and directed a performance by NSYNC and Spears at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards.
Robson then helped direct NSYNC’s 2000 “No Strings Attached” Tour.
In 2001, he choreographed the “Crossroads” star’s “I’m a Slave 4 U” video and appeared in the clip for NSYNC’s hit “Pop.”
In 2004, he hosted the MTV reality competition series “The Wade Robson Project.” The show focused on finding the best hip-hop dancers in America.
Robson has even picked up two Emmys during his career, receiving one award in 2007 and another one the following year, both for his work on the program “So You Think You Can Dance.”
He then went back to teaching dance in 2017 after taking a hiatus in 2012. He told DanceTeacher.com that Jackson was the main component for taking a step back from Hollywood.
“My relationship with dance had become tainted,” Robson said. “Michael Jackson was the reason I began dancing at the age of 2. He was my main inspiration and my mentor, but he was also my abuser. Dance was so intertwined with him and the abuse that I couldn’t separate them.”
Marriage and Family
Robson has been married to Amanda Rodriguez since 2005 and they share one son together.
He and his wife established the Robson Family Fund in 2019 as a way to contribute “towards the healing from and prevention of child abuse.”
He also dated Jackson’s niece Brandi Jackson in the 1990s before seeing dancer Mayte Garcia from 2000 to 2001.
