ASH FORK, Ariz. (AP) — A volunteer firefighter has been arrested and accused of setting a number of fires not too long ago in northern Arizona, authorities mentioned.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s officers mentioned the 18-year-old volunteer firefighter was booked into jail on suspicion of three counts of arson, aggravated prison harm and 5 counts of false reporting to legislation enforcement.

They mentioned he’s suspected of beginning eight blazes within the Ash Fork space since mid-June.

Ash Fork has a volunteer hearth division and is about 50 miles (80 kilometers) west of Flagstaff.

Sheriff’s officers mentioned the firefighter was questioned Thursday evening and allegedly admitted to being instantly concerned in seven of the fires — at a gasoline station, a county-owned cemetery, two deserted houses and two wildfires alongside a Forest Service highway.

The person is anticipated to face extra expenses involving fires in Coconino County, authorities mentioned.
