Vietnam to Export 2 Million Swine Fever Vaccine Doses to Philippines by October

HANOI (Reuters) – Vietnam will export two million vaccine doses towards African swine fever to the Philippines by October, the federal government stated on Wednesday, one week after it permitted home use of the world’s first industrial vaccines towards the illness.

African swine fever has for years disrupted the $250 billion international pork market. Within the worst outbreak in 2018-19, about half the home pig inhabitants died in China, the world’s largest producer, inflicting losses estimated at over $100 billion.

The vaccine to be shipped to the Philippines is produced for industrial use by AVAC Vietnam JSC, the federal government stated in a press release, including the corporate has already shipped 300,000 doses to the Philippines since its approval

The cargo “signalled large export potential”, the federal government stated.

Vietnam late final month permitted home industrial use of two African swine fever vaccines – NAVET-ASFVAC and AVAC ASF LIVE – co-developed by Vietnamese corporations and researchers from the US.
