US Army vet saves pregnant woman from carjacking at Starbucks drive-thru

This Army vet deserves a latte thanks — after saving a pregnant woman from being carjacked at a Florida Starbucks drive-thru.

Shane Spicer was waiting for his java fix in the drive-thru lane in Ocala but got a real jolt when he saw a man fleeing from cops on foot after a car chase, Fox 35 Orlando reported.

The suspect, a career criminal who allegedly broke into someone’s home and stole their car, had just crashed in a busy intersection and took off running toward the coffee joint.

“A white male bailing! He’s now at Starbucks!” one cop is heard shouting in a newly-released dash-cam video posted by the outlet.

The man is seen running to another woman in her vehicle and trying to carjack her, but Spicer jumps inside the passenger seat to prevent him from escaping with the car.

“Just getting started with the day, had maybe been awake 20 to 25 minutes. I live about a mile from that Starbucks,” Spicer told the outlet.

“Sprinting up to Starbucks, and he didn’t look like a Starbucks coffee drinker. Then he yanked the girl out of the car,” he said.

But the Army vet, whose girlfriend and young daughter were in his car, prevented the grand theft auto, saying it was “just kind of an instinctive — kind of reactionary thing.”

“I’m going to get you, buddy!” Spicer said he shouted at the would-be carjacker. “You’re not going anywhere now! You crossed the line!”

Body cam footage shows him holding onto the suspect, identified as Michael Prouty, with the help of another good Samaritan as the officers catch up seconds later.

Prouty was charged with fleeing and eluding, attempted carjacking and resisting arrest, WKMG reported. In Sumter County, he also faces charges of home invasion, battery on a person over 65, and grand theft of a vehicle.

“We are proud of these two citizens for their heroic action, for helping our officers make the arrest, and for keeping our community safe.” Ocala Police Chief Mike Balken said in a statement.

The other good Samaritan has not been identified.

The woman, who is pregnant, was rattled by the incident but is expected to be OK, WSVN reported, adding that she later reached out to thank Spicer.

“I feel like if you’ve got the ability to watch out for someone, that you should,” Spicer said. “I would just hope that someone would do the same for my family.”
