British television star and sex symbol Emily Atack’s pregnancy announcement has revealed a close-to-home twist.

Atack, 34, best known for her role in the successful series The Inbetweeners, announced that she was having a child and asked her fans to go “easy” on her during this exciting and busy time.

“I’m delighted to share with you all that we’re having a baby! I’ve never been so happy and utterly terrified at the same time. Please go easy on me,” she wrote.

While Atack didn’t tag the father in her post, reports say she’s having a baby with her step-cousin, Alistair Garner (pictured).

The actor added that she was dealing with the mixed bag of first-time pregnancy and learning to navigate it all.

“Every day is mixed with thrill, fear, joy, hysteria, topped off with a lot of vomiting – a bit like when you’ve just stepped off of the Oblivion at Alton Towers on a hangover,” she joked.

While Atack didn’t tag the father of her unborn child in the sweet post, The Sun has reported that she’s having a child with her step-cousin scientist Alistair Garner.

“I’m delighted to share with you all that we’re having a baby! I’ve never been so happy and utterly terrified at the same time. Please go easy on me,” Atack wrote.

Garner is the son of Atack’s late uncle, Dr Stephen Garner, who married her aunt Jane Robbins in 1994, and so essentially, the pair would have grown up alongside each other.

To make it clear, they aren’t blood-related; instead, Alistair became her cousin through marriage.

The step-cousins haven’t confirmed their relationship on social media but were spotted holding hands together in September.

Fans have reacted to the news of her close connection with her new beau and don’t seem fussed by their family connection.

“No such thing as step-cousins, they aren’t related,” one argued.

“Sorry, but you’re just making names up now. There’s no such thing as step-cousins. Are not blood-related. Leave this woman alone,” another shared.

“That’s nice she’s lovely so glad for her,” one praised.

Atack has been famous since the early 2000s, and she’s been linked to some well-known men in the spotlight during her time.

Most famously, she dated Harry Styles in 2013 and later clarified that they’d never been boyfriend or girlfriend but rather had a fun “fling” and ended things on good terms.

In January 2023, she opened up about the unwanted sexual harassment she received on social media in a BBC documentary, Emily Atack: Asking for It.

She explained that the constant unwanted sexual messages had taken their toll and appeared on the UK’s Morning Show and said that the behavior from men has been “normalized” and women have just been taught to accept it.

Atack said that despite the abuse, she wasn’t going to change her social media or the way she dressed because it was happening to women no matter what they did or looked like.

Fans have reacted to the news on social media, with one writing “No such thing as step-cousins, they aren’t related,” one argued.

“This is happening to women whether you’re a sex worker or a nun,” she pointed out.

Atack also said that the unwanted sexual messages had nothing to do with the women being harassed and everything to do with the men harassing women.

“It isn’t about you, it’s about them and their need for power,” she said.
