Trump rips $355M ruling in NY civil fraud trial as ‘complete and total sham’

Donald Trump ripped the ruling fining him $355 million for carrying out fraud in his business dealings as a “complete and total sham” in a social media rant on Friday — repeating his refrain that the case amounted to “ELECTION INTERFERENCE” and was a “WITCH HUNT.”
In a series of four posts on Truth Social, the former president claimed Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron hit him with the huge penalty “based on nothing other than having build a GREAT COMPANY.”
“This ‘decision’ is a Complete and Total SHAM,” Trump, 77, wrote.
The highly- anticipated ruling came down Friday around 3 p.m. in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit against the former president, his family real estate company, his two eldest sons Eric and Donald Trump Jr. and others.
The 2024 GOP presidential frontrunner took every opportunity in court during the three-month trial, and on social media, to attack Engoron and James, a Democrat who vowed during her campaign for AG to shine a “bright light” on Trump’s real estate dealings.
“The Justice System in New York State, and America as a whole, is under assault by partisan, deluded, biased Judges and Prosecutors. Racist, Corrupt A.G. Tish James has been obsessed with ‘Getting Trump’ for years, and used Crooked New York State Judge Engoron to get an illegal, unAmerican judgment against me, my family, and my tremendous business,” he wrote in one of the posts Friday.
“I helped New York City during its worst of times, and now, while it is overrun with Violent Biden Migrant Crime, the Radicals are doing all they can to kick me out.”
Trump and his lawyer attempted to get the suit — which accused the real estate tycoon of inflating his assets by billions a year for a decade to get better loan and insurance terms — thrown out, claiming it was politically motivated.
But Engoron, who oversaw the non-jury trial that Trump testified in, ruled against that bid, a decision which an appeals court upheld.
His ruling on Friday also bars Trump, Eric, Don Jr. and others from running the Trump Organization or serving as a director or officer of any other company in New York for three years.
