A number of tornadoes touched down in Illinois Wednesday, together with within the suburbs of Chicago and close to O’Hare Worldwide Airport, damaging properties and grounding planes.

The Nationwide Climate Service confirmed on Thursday morning via Twitter that there have been a number of tornadoes Wednesday evening between 5 p.m. and seven p.m.

“Between 5 p.m. and seven p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, a number of tornadoes tracked throughout Northeast Illinois, some in very shut proximity to at least one one other,” the National Weather Service tweet said. “These had been spawned by rotating thunderstorms often known as supercells.”
