His days are numbered.
Popular soap opera star Steve Burton confirmed Wednesday that he will be leaving the long-running show “Days of Our Lives” nearly one year after returning to the melodrama.
“Wow! Well, I just shot my final scenes here on ‘Days of Our Lives’ and I just want to say, thank you so much to the cast [and] to the crew. It’s been amazing,” Burton, 53, said in a video uploaded to YouTube.
“I can’t believe it’s been a year already! So, thank you so much to the fans. It’s just … I’m always so full of gratitude. So thank you. Stay tuned,” he continued.
The Post reached out to Burton for comment.
Burton made his “Days” debut in 1988 as Harris Micheals but later departed the show when his contract ran out a year later.
Following his time on the four-time Emmy-winning show, Burton appeared on “The Young and Restless” and the ABC soap “General Hospital,” which earned him several Daytime Emmy Awards.
In 2021, Burton revealed that he was let go from the ABC hit after he refused to comply with the studio’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
“I know there’s been a lot of rumors and speculations about me and ‘General Hospital’ and I wanted you to hear it from me personally,” the actor said in a video posted to his Instagram. “Unfortunately, ‘General Hospital’ has let me go because of the vaccine mandate.”
According to the star, he applied for both a religious and medical exemption through the studio but was denied both “which, you know, hurts,” added the actor. “But this is also about personal freedom to me.”
“I’ll always be grateful for my time on ‘General Hospital.’ I love it there, I grew up there. I believe that when one door closes, multiple doors open … so I am excited to see what the future brings. And maybe one day, if these mandates are lifted, I can return and can finish my career as Jason Morgan,” Burton added.
In 2022, Burton made his reappearance as Micheals in a “Days” spinoff series called “Beyond Salem” before returning to the actual show.
“When you’re in the business 36 years and people are still calling? I’m super grateful,” the actor gushed to Soap Opera Digest. “[Days is] a great environment to work in, and I feel like I’m getting a real run at things.”
Burton has also recently made headlines for splitting from his wife, Sheree Burton, after claiming that she had gotten pregnant by another man.
In documents, which were obtained by Us Weekly, both Burton and his estranged wife had agreed to split custody of their kids Makena, 19, Jack, 17, and Brooklyn, 9, and neither adult would be forced to pay spousal or child support.
“I wanted to clear something up. Sheree and I are separated,” Burton wrote in an Instagram Story in July 2022. “She recently announced that she’s expecting her 4th child. The child is not mine.”
“We are still co-parenting our three beautiful kids. We would appreciate privacy at this time. Much luv, Steve,” he concluded.
Burton’s divorce was finalized in December 2023.
