Shams Charania dances around question about his Kay Adams relationship

Pat McAfee was looking for a little inside information on one of the NBA’s biggest insiders.
The host of the “Pat McAfee Show” asked Shams Charania if he’s dating Kay Adams after The Athletic reporter seemingly gifted Adams a pair of sneakers for Valentine’s Day, as was revealed on a YouTube exclusive of her FanDuel TV show “Up & Adams.”
With the tables turned on him, Charania danced around the question.
“That’s a great colleague of mine, I think she’s amazing,” he said while stuttering and then turning things back to McAfee. “You got to know her a little bit, too. I think she’s amazing at what he does, I enjoy going on her show. Obviously, she has, to me, like with you, similarly, she makes me feel comfortable while I’m on her show, you make me feel comfortable.”
Charania and Adams have been the subject of many a sports internet rumor due to their apparent flirtatious history on Adams’ show, something McAfee was keenly aware of.
“Oh, you’re comfortable around each other, that’s a good start,” McAfee interjected.
Charania noted that the FanDuel colleagues were in the same space to watch the Super Bowl on Sunday.
“Whoa! Right next to each other?” McAfee pressed.
“We were in the FanDuel suite,” Charania replied before rattling off a list of other attendees.
McAfee didn’t let him off the hook so easily and pressed on, asking, “So, you are dating?”
Charania replied: “I… wouldn’t classify myself –” before McAfee mercifully cut him off.
McAfee clearly caught Charania off guard with his line of questioning, but he was trying to get to the bottom of the sports internet rumor.
