Saints wide receiver Chris Olave was arrested Monday on suspicion of reckless operation of a motor vehicle, a Kenner (La.) police department spokesperson told ESPN.
Olave was reportedly driving 70 mph in a 30-mph zone.
The wide receiver was booked into a Kenner jail Monday night and set to be released once paperwork had been processed, the network reported.
“Bro was on the way back to the crib from CVS… aint nun serious,” Chris’ brother, Josh, wrote on X seemingly in response to the report.
The Saints are are aware of the situation but have yet to provide a comment.
NOF Network — a Saints-focused website — reported that Olave “did not resist and was cooperative with law enforcement.”
This arrest comes on the heels of the Saints having an extra few days off following last Thursday’s 31-24 home loss to the Jaguars on “Thursday Night Football.”
The team had the weekend off and did not practice Monday, although players were required to come to the team’s facility and meetings were held.
Olave, 23, is the Saints’ top wide receiver.
The Ohio State product and former first-round pick leads the team with 39 catches on 68 targets for 471 yards and one touchdown through seven games.
Olave has 111 catches for 1,513 yards and five touchdowns in his brief career.
The Saints are averaging just 19 points per game, and big offseason acquisition Derek Carr has been mediocre at best in his first season with the franchise.
In last Thursday’s loss, Carr clearly was perturbed with Olave over how the second-year receiver ran one route and let out his frustrations.
New Orleans (3-4) has lost back-to-back games and four of its last five heading into Sunday’s road game against the Colts (3-4).
