Red Wings vs. Jets prediction: NHL odds, picks, bets for Wednesday
[ad_1]
Things have not gone well for the Detroit Red Wings since they made a midseason splash and signed Patrick Kane.
The Wings are 1-5-1 with No. 88 in the lineup and a promising start to the season is now firmly in the rearview mirror as Detroit finds itself on the outside of the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference on Wednesday morning.
What’s most concerning for the Wings is that this cold streak has not been a product of a tough schedule.
Red Wings vs. Jets prediction
(7:30 p.m. ET. ESPN+)
This should have been an opportunity for Detroit to climb the ladder but instead it tumbled and now finds itself in desperate need of a win as it embarks on a six-game stretch against in-form teams starting with the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday night.
Detroit’s shortcomings include a lot of things Winnipeg does well.
The Jets are a deep team that plays a structured, pragmatic game at five-on-five and gets contributions from up and down the lineup.
That was the vision that Steve Yzerman had in mind for the Red Wings, but right now the Wings are struggling to get anything going offensively and that job will only get tougher against a tidy defensive team with an all-world goaltender.
Betting on the NHL?
At some point there’s going to come a time to buy low on the Wings, but we’re not at that moment just yet.
Winnipeg has a decided edge in goal and should provide good value even as a decent favorite at home on Wednesday night.
THE PLAY: Jets puckline -1.5 goals (+146, FanDuel Sportsbook).
