Randy Meisner, founding member of the Eagles, useless at 77

Randy Meisner — a founding member of the Eagles, who co-wrote and sang the band’s hit tune “Take It to the Restrict” — has died. He was 77.

“The Eagles are unhappy to report that founding member, bassist, and vocalist, Randy Meisner, handed away final evening (July 26) in Los Angeles at age 77, as a consequence of issues from Persistent Obstructive Pulmonary illness (COPD),” the band introduced Thursday on its website.

“Randy was an integral a part of the Eagles and instrumental within the early success of the band. His vocal vary was astonishing, as is clear on his signature ballad, ‘Take It to the Restrict,’” the assertion continued.

Meisner, together with Glenn Frey, Don Henley, and Bernie Leadon, shaped the Eagles in 1971.
