Pilot dead after small plane crashes at Bill and Hillary Clinton Airport

One person is dead after a small plane crashed shortly after taking off from the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Arkansas.
The single-engine plane, a Cirrus SR 22, went down around 1:15 p.m. Sunday, hitting the ground just north of a building at the Little Rock airport.
No one was onboard but the pilot. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.
The plane’s chassis was reduced to a smoldering wreckage after eight fire units responded to the scene
“It was a total loss,” Little Rock Fire Department Chief Delphone Hubbard said.
Officials have not yet released the name of the victim.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
The airport was closed for an hour as responders contained the wreck.
It was the second fatal crash at the Clinton Airport in under a year.
On February 22 of last year, a plane carrying five Arkansas environmental employees went down shortly after take off.
That plane crashed in a wooded area and sparked a fierce fire. All five onboard were killed.
