NEW YORK (AP) — A number of passengers suffered minor accidents when a commuter practice derailed in New York Metropolis on Thursday, officers stated.

About 100 riders had been on the Lengthy Island Rail Street practice when it derailed shortly after 11 a.m. east of the Jamaica station in Queens, a Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesperson stated.

A Hearth Division spokesperson stated 10 folks suffered minor accidents and extra passengers had been being evaluated. The riders had been evacuated to a rescue practice.

Eight practice automobiles derailed, officers stated. Eastbound LIRR trains had been bypassing a number of different stations because of this.

“Our prime precedence is making certain all passengers and railroad employees are protected and that practice service resumes as shortly as attainable,” New York Gov. Kathy Hochul stated in a press release.
