Daylen Lile escaped the worst-case scenarios after flipping over the bullpen wall while tracking a fly ball for the Nationals.

Lile reportedly is out of the hospital and dealing with soreness after test results came back negative and he was diagnosed with a lower-back contusion.

He is expected to return to play once the pain subsides, per the Washington Post.

Nationals manager Davey Martinez said that Lile is lucky and this outcome is the best-case scenario, according to the team’s broadcast network MASN.

Lile is back in the team’s spring training home of West Palm Beach.

Lile left JetBlue Park on a stretcher Saturday after tumbling head-first over the short right-field wall attempting to rob a home run against the Red Sox.

As soon as Lile disappeared from camera sight, pitchers in the Red Sox bullpen began waving to the Nationals’ trainers to come help, recognizing the gravity of Lile’s injury.

The immediate concern for movement in his extremities was quelled by Lile’s thumbs-up gesture as he left the field and by Martinez, who said after the game that the top prospect was moving his legs and arms on the field.

Video from the NESN feed appeared to show Lile wearing a brace around his neck.

The 21-year-old Lile is the No. 6-ranked prospect in the Nationals organization after compiling an .807 OPS at Single-A last season. It is his first opportunity in big-league spring training.
