Momma bear named ‘Hank the Tank,’ 3 cubs captured after almost 2 dozen, DNA-confirmed home invasions in past year

California wildlife officers have captured a large black bear dubbed “Hank the Tank,” after a string of house invasions over the previous yr. 

Wildlife biologists for the California Division of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) captured the massive feminine black bear and three cubs early Friday. 

The division stated the bear is liable for almost two dozen DNA-confirmed house break-ins and intensive property harm within the South Lake Tahoe space between February 2022 and Could 2023. 

CDFW says the bear is considered one of a number of bears recognized by the general public as “Hank the Tank” primarily based on visible observations. 

The bear is being transferred to the Wild Animal Sanctuary close to Springfield, Colorado.
