Emotional video shows a 5-year-old Israeli girl being mobbed by happy classmates Tuesday — her first day back to school after being released by Hamas terrorists.
Emelia Aloni is shown in the touching video excitedly waiting for one of her teachers to unlock the front gate leading into the school as she is about to return to classes for the first time.
Emelia and her mother, Danielle, 44, were released from captivity last week, and the little girl returned to school in a bright blue and pink outfit.
The footage shows the little girl’s teacher meeting her at the gate with a large smile on her face after not seeing the child for nearly 50 days. The teacher then scoops the child into a tight hug before the student scampers off toward the front doors, where a crowd of four girls meet her, wrapping her in tight hugs, according to video posted to Twitter.
Emelia smiles from ear to ear as she hugs each of her friends multiple times.
Soon after, more young scholars pour out of the classroom door screaming her name and coming to take a peek at their classmate.
Eventually, another teacher takes her hand and leads her inside the educational institution.
While hostage, Danielle was forced to write a gushing letter about how Hamas treated her daughter like a “queen.
“Kids shouldn’t be in prison, but thanks to you and other kind people we met along the way … my daughter considered herself a queen in Gaza,” the letter – which was published in Hebrew and Arabic – read.
“I sincerely thank you from the depths of my heart for your extraordinary humanity shown towards my daughter,” it continued. “You’ve treated her like parents, inviting her to your rooms, making her feel that you’re not just friends, but true caring loved ones.”
Since the pair’s release, Danielle has said the letter was propaganda.
The mother-daughter duo were captured Oct. 7 in Kibbutz Nir Oz and taken into Gaza.
More than 100 hostages were released during a seven-day cease-fire where Israel freed Palestinian prisoners in exchange for hostages. Scores more hostages are still being held by the terrorist.
