Michigan Information Felony Prices in Alleged False Electors Scheme in 2020 US Election

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Michigan Lawyer Basic Dana Nessel on Tuesday introduced felony costs towards 16 Michigan residents for his or her position in an alleged false electors scheme following the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

The 16 Republicans within the state are accused of submitting a phony slate of electors in hopes of flipping the state from Democratic President Joe Biden to Republican Donald Trump within the 2020 presidential election.

“The false electors’ actions undermined the general public’s religion within the integrity of our elections and, we imagine, additionally plainly violated the legal guidelines by which we administer our elections in Michigan,” Nessel mentioned in an announcement.
