Lightning defenseman Mikhail Sergachev was taken off the Madison Square Garden ice on a stretcher in the second period of Tampa Bay’s matchup with the Rangers Wednesday night.

After Alexis Lafreniere landed a reverse hit on Sergachev, who missed the last 17 games with a lower-body injury and made his return to the Lightning lineup on Wednesday, the 25-year-old went down and grabbed at his left knee.

Tampa Bay players immediately motioned over for medics and Sergachev was loaded onto a stretcher.

Sergachev held his towel over his face as he was ushered off the ice.
