LA model Maleesa Mooney’s body found in fridge, her ankles and wrists bound: autopsy

Los Angeles model Maleesa Mooney’s body was found inside her refrigerator, her mouth gagged and wrists and ankles bound together — while traces of cocaine also were found in her system.

The LA County Medical Examiner’s Office had ruled her death “homicidal violence” earlier this month, but the grizzly details of how the 31-year old’s remains were discovered in her Downtown LA apartment were released in a autopsy report late Friday and obtained by The Post.

Coroners found blunt force injuries to Mooney’s face/head, back and upper left arm.

Toxicology results also showed she had benzoylecgonine —a cocaine metabolite — in her system, as well as a mix of cocaethylene and ethanol.

“The blunt force traumatic injuries observed at autopsy are generally not considered acutely life threatening on their own,’ according to the autopsy report.

“However, based on the circumstances of how Ms. Mooney was found, these injuries suggest she was likely involved in a violent physical altercation prior to her death. Given this, the role that drugs and/or alcohol may have played in Ms. Mooney’s death, if any, is uncertain,” the report stated.

Mooney was found dead in her South Figueroa Street apartment on Sept. 12 after her mother called cops to perform a “welfare check” on the model.

When officers entered the apartment, they found a pool of blood beneath her lifeless body, which was “wedged in the refrigerator,” according to the report.

Based on the blunt force injuries found all over her body and the condition it was found, coroner officials deemed the manner of her death a homicide.

There also is evidence that the model was strangled.

Mooney’s iCloud had an alert that indicated someone was using her devices, indicating to her family that her murderer was trying to pawn off her iPhone and MacBook, they told ABC 7.

Mooney’s sister, model Jourdin Pauline, told local TV station KTLA her sister was two months pregnant when she died and had always wanted to be a mom.

“I can’t imagine what my sister went through and it pains me to even think about it,” she told the outlet.

Mooney had only moved into the roughly 450-unit luxury apartment building last month.

The bombshell beauty’s death spurred fear in local residents, especially after another model, Nichole “Nikki” Coats, also was found dead about three miles away in her own Downtown LA apartment just two days before Mooney.

Coats’ family members feared their stunning 32-year-old daughter also was murdered, but an autopsy report released two days ago showed she had died of an accidental overdose of cocaine and alcohol.

Her dad, Guy Coats, told The Post Nikki looked so “busted” and “swollen” that other family members were only able to ID his daughter by her tattoos.

The only cause of death was listed as “cocaine and ethanol toxicity,” with the latter being alcohol.

LAPD officials said there was no evidence to suggest the models’ deaths were connected.
