King Charles III will undergo a ‘corrective procedure’ for an enlarged prostate

King Charles III is set to undergo a “corrective procedure” for an enlarged prostate next week.

Buckingham Palace announced the news on Wednesday.

His condition is benign, according to the Associated Press, adding that having an enlarged prostate is “common with thousands of men each year.”

The sovereign will take “a short period of recuperation” in order to recover and rest.

An enlarged prostate is a common issue for men over the age of 50.

The procedure is to help shrink the gland as it has grown bigger.

A palace source told NBC News that Charles “was keen to share the details of his diagnosis to encourage other men who may be experiencing symptoms to get checked, in line with public health advice.” 

Charles had several meetings slated to take place at Scotland’s Dumfries House later this week, a source exclusively tells The Post.

However, now those will be postponed per expert medical advice. Public figures from around the world were set to attend, as well as several members of Parliament.

The insider noted that the palace made the announcement on Wednesday in an effort to allow all visitors to reschedule their travel plans.

Charles’ upcoming hospitalization comes just hours after Kensington Palace revealed that Kate Middleton, 42, recently had abdominal surgery at the London Clinic.

The surgery was said to be “successful” and she will remain in the hospital for 10 to 14 days before “returning home to continue her recovery.”

She will not return to “public duties until after Easter.”

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate,” the Kensington Palace memo said.

“She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible.”

Middleton and Prince William, 41, are parents of Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.

Additionally, the statement noted that Middleton hopes “that her personal medical information remain private” and the palace will “only provide updates” on her progress “when there is significant new information to share.”

The Duchess of Cambridge “wishes to apologize to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements.

“She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible,” the statement concluded.
