James Cameron is debunking rumors that allege he’s concerned in discussions a few potential film about the corporate that made and operated the Titan submersible.
The director of the Oscar-winning blockbuster Titanic issued a press release on Twitter July 15, virtually a month after the small vacationer sub from OceanGate Expeditions imploded underwater off the coast of Newfoundland whereas diving to the wreckage of the well-known Titanic ship, killing all 5 passengers, together with the corporate’s CEO, Stockton Rush.
“I do not reply to offensive rumors within the media often, however I have to now,” Cameron tweeted. “I am NOT in talks about an OceanGate movie, nor will I ever be.”
The Oscar winner, who has personally made 33 dives to the Titanic’s wreckage, had shared his thoughts on the submersible implosion in media interviews days following the tragedy.
“I am struck by the similarity of the Titanic catastrophe itself,” Cameron instructed ABC News June 22, “the place the captain was repeatedly warned about ice forward of his ship and but he steamed at full velocity into an ice subject on a moonless evening—and many individuals died because of this.”
