Jalen Brunson does hilarious spoken rendition of ‘All Star,’ gives ankle update on ‘Tonight Show’

Jalen Brunson can do it all, seemingly.
Appearing on Friday night’s episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” the Knicks guard and first-time NBA All-Star went a little on the nose with a spoken word rendition of Smash Mouth’s hit song “All Star.”
Appearing in an all-black outfit, including a beanie, the Knicks superstar point guard walked up to the microphone as the studio darkened and a drum beat in the background as if he was at a poetry reading at a jazz club.
Hey now, you’re an all-star. Get your game on, go play,” he said in a slow cadence. “Hey now, you’re a rock star, get the show on, get paid. And all that glitters is gold. Only shootin’ stars break the mold.”
As he finished, he took a quick bow and roses were tossed at his feet.
“Oh my gosh, Jalen Brunson, everybody,” Fallon concluded the segment.
Brunson later sat down for a one-on-one interview with the comedian, and he was pressed about his ankle, which forced him to sit out of Thursday night’s loss to the Mavericks.
“Everything’s good,” Brunson said, before adding a “we’ll see” if he will return back to the lineup soon.
Brunson was officially listed by the Knicks as questionable for Saturday’s game.
He shared some lighter tidbits during the interview, saying since his college days at Villanova, he’s listened to Justin Bieber music before every game.
Fallon also asked the point guard if he and the Knicks have enjoyed proving the prognosticators wrong this season as the sit at fourth in the Eastern Conference.
“For me, I like to say that I’ve proven to myself that I belong,” Brunson said. “I belong here, I worked this hard to get here. … I worked this hard to be here, so I gotta keep that mindset, keep that confidence, just make sure that doesn’t waver in any way.”
Brunson also said if the Knicks bring home a championship this year, he would in fact bring the Larry O’Brien Trophy to the show’s studio.
