Hunter Biden surprisingly shows up to House contempt hearing after defying subpoena

First son Hunter Biden made a surprise appearance Wednesday at a House Oversight Committee hearing where members were debating a resolution holding him in contempt of Congress.

Hunter, 53, ignored the requests from the Oversight and Judiciary committees to sit for interviews Dec. 13, opting instead to give an impromptu speech ripping House Republicans leading an impeachment investigation of his father.

Hunter’s gambit propelled the House of Representatives to vote hours later to formally authorize the impeachment inquiry after it launched in September.
