SEOUL (Reuters) – South Korea’s largest telco SK Telecom mentioned it is going to make investments $100 million in U.S. synthetic intelligence agency Anthropic to strengthen its telecommunications-driven AI enterprise.

Anthropic, a startup competing with OpenAI in constructing AI basis fashions, is among the many most well-funded AI corporations, having raised $450 million from traders together with Alphabet Inc’s Google and Spark Capital in Might.

SK Telecom, which additionally made a smaller funding in Might, mentioned on Sunday that the 2 corporations plan to collectively develop a worldwide telecommunications-oriented multilingual massive language mannequin and construct an AI platform.

SK Telecom declined to disclose the dimensions of its Might funding or the dimensions of its stake in Anthropic.
