Erdogan Meets Palestinian President, Hamas Chief Haniyeh

ANKARA (Reuters) – Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas along with Ismail Haniyeh, the chief of the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, in Ankara on Wednesday, Erdogan’s workplace stated.

Abbas is paying a go to to Turkey and had beforehand met with Erdogan on Tuesday.

Abbas and Haniyeh have been unable to restore a rift since 2007, when Hamas, which opposes peace offers with Israel, seized management of the Gaza Strip. Abbas’ Western-backed Palestinian Authority stays dominant within the Israeli-occupied West Financial institution.

On Tuesday, Abbas agreed with Haniyeh, who presently resides between Qatar and Turkey, to carry a broad assembly of factions within the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on the finish of July, to debate the battle with Israel and methods to finish inside divisions.
