Driver’s Miraculous Comeback: Surviving the Most Violent NASCAR Crash Ever!

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Following a harrowing crash in Saturday night’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway, Ryan Preece took to social media to declare his determination, stating, “I’m making a comeback.”

Preece was swiftly transported to a local hospital after the incident.

Although he refrained from providing a health update in his post on X, the online platform previously known as Twitter, he did convey, “To be a true race car driver, resilience is paramount. Darn it… I’m not giving up.”

The calamitous crash occurred on Lap 156 of the 163-lap race when Preece’s car was struck from behind by Erik Jones’ vehicle. The impact caused Preece’s car to careen over 10 times before colliding with the car of his teammate Chase Briscoe. This collision sent Preece’s car skidding sideways across the grass. As the car hit a patched section, air rushed beneath it, initiating a tumultuous series of rolls.

Commenting on the intensity of Preece’s crash during the NBC broadcast, NASCAR on NBC analyst Jeff Burton remarked, “The violence of this impact is astonishing. Just observe the vehicle. It’s truly remarkable that an object weighing over 3,500 pounds can become airborne in such a manner.”

In the race’s regular-season finale, Chris Buescher claimed victory, while Preece secured the 31st position.

Buescher, who shares a close friendship with Ryan, shared his relief upon receiving news of Preece’s well-being. He shared, “Ryan and I are good friends. While we were celebrating in Victory Lane, we were informed that he’s at the hospital. The medical team is conducting thorough assessments, and thankfully, he’s in stable condition. That’s certainly reassuring to hear.”
