Bradley Chubb feared to have torn ACL during garbage time in Dolphins injury disaster

The Dolphins appear to have lost something even more valuable than playoff positioning during a lopsided loss to the Ravens — and it likely could have been avoided.

Star linebacker Bradley Chubb is feared to have torn his ACL when he crumpled to the ground holding his knee after trying to make a tackle with Miami down 49-19 with 3:05 left in the game on Sunday, according to multiple reports.

Chubb, 26, was carted off the field after the play and Miami ended up losing 56-19.

It would be a disastrous blow to a Dolphins defense that already lost linebacker Jaelan Phillips for the season to an Achilles tear

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel took ownership of the fact he chose to leave his starting defense in with his team down 30 points and Ravens star QB Lamar Jackson out of the game.

“In hindsight, I absolutely would not have wanted him out there if I would have known he was gonna get hurt,” McDaniel told reporters after the game. “That’s a known part of the job that I understand fully. It doesn’t look very smart at all.”

Chubb was in the midst of a potential Pro Bowl season with 11 sacks and six forced fumbles and was a game-wrecker at times for Miami.

The Dolphins, who have clinched a playoff berth, came into the game trying to earn a clear path to the top seed in the AFC and the AFC East crown, but all of that is in jeopardy now, heading in to next week’s season finale at the division rival Bills.

It looks like whatever they do go on to accomplish this season, it will have to be without Chubb.
