Billy Crystal returns to Katz’s Deli for the first time since ‘When Harry Met Sally’

Nearly 35 years after “When Harry Met Sally” hit theaters, Billy Crystal is coming back to where it all began.

The 75-year-old stopped by Katz’s Delicatessen in New York City alongside CBS Mornings‘ Gayle King — the site of the infamous scene where Meg Ryan’s character pretends to reach the point of climax.

“I haven’t been here since we actually shot the movie,” Crystal told the journalist, 68, as they went into the iconic Manhattan landmark during a recent episode.

“When Harry Met Sally” was released in 1989 and was directed by Rob Reiner.

Ryan, 62, and Crystal starred as the titular characters who become best friends-turned-lovers over the course of 12 years.

While King and the Emmy winner munched on the eatery’s famed pastrami sandwiches, the latter reminisced about the movie.

The “Running Scared” actor noted to King how it’s “an amazing phenomenon” that the movie still remains an iconic rom-com today.

“[The film] is more important as time goes by,” he said.

“People fall in love everyday. People fall out of love everyday. People find each other, they lose each other every day,” Crystal said.

He added: “And new generations keep finding ‘When Harry Met Sally.’ They keep discovering it, and we’re forever young in that movie. And we represent them. They relate to us.”

Katz’s Deli has even kept their own piece of cinematic history in relationship to the flick, with a plaque set near the table that Ryan and Crystal shot the scene.

The sign reads “Where Harry Met Sally…Hope You Have What She Had!”

The “Sleepless in Seattle” actress joked about the faking orgasm scene when she awarded Crystal at the Kennedy Center Honors earlier this month.

“The scene came really natural to me, and I really have Billy to thank for that,” Ryan joked at the pre-taped event. “I’ve never been around anyone who made faking an orgasm easier.”

“The characters just came alive,” the “Addicted to Love” star added. “And just meeting him. I don’t know. How could you not love Billy Crystal?”

In her speech, Ryan also noted how Crystal’s Harry “is a very broad character: noxious, insensitive and terrified of commitment.”

“But if you take out all of Harry’s flaws, what you have underneath is pure Billy. And what he brings to all of his characters is heart,” she gushed.

“Harry is his heart because Billy listens to his, and as his wife, Janice, has known for over 50 years — falling in love with Billy is a pretty easy thing to do.”
