At Least One Dead, Dozens Rescued as Migrant Boat Crossing Channel From France Capsizes

PARIS (Reuters) – At the least one individual died and round 50 had been rescued after a migrant boat attempting to cross the Channel from France capsized early on Saturday, the native maritime prefecture stated.

Native mayor Franck Dhersin stated an enormous rescue operation was launched round 06:00 a.m. (0400 GMT) as dozens of boats tried to make the crossing on the similar time.

“Close to Sangatte they sadly discovered lifeless individuals,” he advised Reuters.

The Channel between France and Britain is among the world’s busiest delivery lanes and currents are robust.
