‘All My Children’ star Alec Musser’s cause of death at 50 revealed

The cause of death of beloved soap opera star Alec Musser has been revealed. He was 50.

A new report released by TMZ determined that the “All My Children” star, who was found dead on Saturday, reportedly died by suicide in his Del Mar, California, home. His fiancée, Paige Press, later discovered his body.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office told the outlet that Musser died due to a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the chest.

According to the report, Press went to bed Friday evening and awoke the next morning to find the actor slumped on the bathroom floor with the gun nearby.

The report further explains that Press called 911; however, when authorities arrived, nothing could be done to save him.

The press release regarding Musser’s cause of death comes mere days after both Press and his uncle Robert confirmed his sudden passing to TMZ but did not elaborate on the cause or circumstance that led to his passing.

Taking to Instagram, Press posted several stories revealing the heartbreaking news.

“My heart is so broken … Today is the worst day of my life. We were so happy,” Press wrote, adding, “I am never taking off my ring.”

Press and Musser became engaged last year after six years of dating.

The former model, who appeared on the cover of many fitness-oriented publications, launched his acting career at the age of 31 after appearing as Del Henry in the iconic ABC soap opera.

Musser was awarded the role when he won the second season of the Soapnet original series “I Wanna Be a Soap Star” in 2005.

The actor appeared in 43 episodes between 2005 and 2007.

Following his time on “All My Children,” the New York native secured spots in several hit TV series such as “Road to the Altar,” “Rita Rocks” and “Desperate Housewives.”

In 2010, Musser nabbed a role in the Adam Sandler film “Grown Ups.”

“I loved this guy. Cannot believe he is gone. Such a wonderful, funny good man. Thinking of Alec Musser and his family and sending all my love. A true great sweetheart of a person,” Sandler, 57, wrote on Instagram after Musser’s passing.

The former fitness guru spent much of his time updating his fans on social media with posts regarding his love for skiing, surfing, his family and his dogs.

In Musser’s last social media post, the actor can be seen surfing on a hoverboard during sunset.

“Silhouette by Baja Winter twilight,” he captioned the post.
