Adoree’ Jackson ‘shocked’ by Wink Martindale’s Giants walkout

One of the Giants’ captains is stunned by what’s gone down between defensive coordinator Wink Martindale and head coach Brian Daboll.
Cornerback Adoree’ Jackson told WFAN’s Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata on Tuesday he was “shocked” to see Martindale seemingly resign — he had yet to officially do so as of Tuesday night — and that there was strife between he and Daboll.
“I wouldn’t be able to tell you what the discord was from seeing them in the meetings all the time together, especially [Daboll] who was always in our meeting down the stretch. It’s not like I saw any disposition in the body language that displayed that there was something going wrong,” Jackson said on the program. “So me seeing that, it’s a little bit of, I won’t say blindside, but I’m just shocked to see that [Martindale] just left like that.”
As The Post’s Paul Schwartz reported, Martindale stormed out of the Giants’ practice facility on Monday after cursing out Daboll, who fired Martindale’s closest confidant, outside linebackers coach Drew Wilkins, and Wilkins’ younger brother Kevin, a defensive assistant.
That came after Daboll told reporters earlier Monday that his “expectation” was that Martindale, along with offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, would be back for the 2024 season.
Jackson, 28, said he would see Daboll and Martindale talking in meetings and on the field.
“Maybe they can win an Oscar,” he told WFAN. “If there was a problem, they did a good job acting and showing that there wasn’t one.”
Jackson, who was in the final year of his contract, offered praise for the Wilkins brothers.
“The guys respected them and listened to them,” Jackson said. “Outside the coaching realm, they were good people, good people to talk to and be around, be able to joke with, banter with.”
Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reported in late November that Daboll and Martindale were in a “bad place” and that the pair could be headed toward a breakup.
Martindale, who was spotted Tuesday at Newark Liberty International Airport boarding a flight to Sarasota, Fla., is owed $3 million for 2024 and he forfeits his salary if he resigns.
