JACKSON, Miss. — A former Mississippi jail guard pleaded responsible to a federal cost Thursday within the 2019 beating of an inmate, the U.S. Justice Division stated.

Jessica Hill pleaded responsible to deprivation of an inmate’s rights through the use of extreme drive when she was a corrections officer on the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility.

Hill beat an inmate with a pepper spray canister and repeatedly punched the inmate within the head, the indictment stated. The inmate was not resisting and was on the bottom within the fetal place whereas being overwhelmed and kicked.

Hill faces a most penalty of 10 years in jail, authorities stated. Her sentencing is about for Oct. 25. A second officer indicted within the case pleaded responsible earlier this yr and is about for sentencing in September.
