Man bites canine!
Reds stalwart Joey Votto joined Chris “Mad Canine” Russo on MLB Community’s “Excessive Warmth” on Wednesday and delivered an epic riff to Russo, who had apparently given him a backhanded praise not too long ago by saying he belonged within the “Corridor of Very Good” versus the Baseball Corridor of Fame.
“A few months in the past you stated that Zack Greinke and I are ‘Corridor of Very Good’ ballplayers. I feel Zack and I’d agree. Chances are you’ll be proper,” started Votto, who’s been with the Reds since 2007.
Votto then began to insinuate that Russo had a bias in opposition to himself and Greinke for enjoying out their careers in small markets, and painted the “Mad Canine” as a cosmopolitan.
“However I get the gist of what’s occurring right here. I do know what you’re doing. You’re trying down on us — a few small-market, midwest ballplayers. Simply because we’re not large metropolis, identical to you, Mr. New York Metropolis!
“SiriusXM radio star. Mr. Nationwide Tv, ESPN, star. Along with your Fifth Avenue ties, your crisp pocket squares, your tailor-made fits and your polished sneakers and your hair — your completely coiffed Broadway HAIR!”
Longtime observers of Russo have acknowledged that his styled hair and tailor-made fits are a comparatively new component of his repertoire since becoming a member of “First Take”.
Nonetheless, these style components are how he’s now identified to Votto.
“Should be good to take a seat on prime of that Madison Avenue ivory tower trying down on us with these luscious locks,” Votto continued.
“Not everybody may be the subsequent Roger Peckinpaugh, Mad Canine!”
All through the spiel, Russo was a great sport, smiling together with the jokes and even giving Votto an attaboy for the Peckinpaugh reference.
