Britain Urges Accountability at UN for Rights Abuses in Sudan
GENEVA (Reuters) – Britain urged the U.N. Human Rights Council to push for accountability over violence in Sudan at an emergency assembly in Geneva on Thursday however Sudan pushed again, saying the occasions unfolding there have been an “inner affair”.
Britain’s minister of state for growth and Africa Andrew Mitchell urged the 47-member council to “ship a united message of concern and horror” forward of an anticipated vote. Sudan’s ambassador informed the council: “What’s occurring in Sudan is an inner affair”.
