Jude Legislation shares how he ‘bribed’ the kid actors on ‘Peter Pan’ set
He discovered a method to hook ’em.
Jude Legislation revealed he was beneath strict directions to not present his true self whereas filming “Peter Pan & Wendy” — so the kid actors on set remained genuinely afraid of him when he performed Captain Hook.
“[Director] David Lowery had the concept of actually making an attempt to encourage them to not see me after I wasn’t Hook,” Law, 50, said Tuesday on “The Tonight Present Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
“So I simply stayed as Hook the entire time, which was a chance simply to be actually scary and imply. Sounds sort of terrible,” “The Vacation” actor admitted.
As Legislation explains it, it was simpler for the younger actors to not see him going out and in of character.
“I didn’t wish to be speaking to slightly 6-year-old dude, after which instantly it’s like, ‘Proper. You hate me. I’m Hook. I’m Hook.’ So, as a substitute, I simply caught as Hook,” he reasoned. ” And, yeah, plenty of the reactions you see within the movie are their reactions to me for the primary time, or as the person himself, you already know?”
Legislation mentioned when filming wrapped, he wanted to do one thing to win over the youngsters.
“They met Jude on the finish,” he laughed. “And I did what each grownup ought to do to bribe kids. I employed an ice cream van, and I drove it on-site and gave out ice cream.”
“Nothing like chocolate ice cream to steer a baby you’re alright,” he quipped.
Legislation mentioned he had a selected imaginative and prescient for Hook, a storybook character that dates again to the early 1900s.
“I wished him to be unhappy, I wished him to be scarred and gnarly and disgusting and scary, and humorous too,” Law told Collider. “Like an overheated, offended dad or uncle who, from a child’s perspective, is simply actually pathetic and loud.”

The brand new movie, which premiered Friday, stars Alexander Molony as Peter Pan, Ever Anderson as Wendy Darling, and Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell.
“Peter Pan & Wendy” is now streaming on Disney+.
