Hen Strike Sparks Aircraft Engine Fireplace Shortly After Takeoff
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A chook strike sparked an engine hearth on a airplane shortly after it took off Sunday from an Ohio airport, and the plane returned safely with no accidents reported, authorities stated.
American Airways flight 1958 had departed from John Glenn Columbus Worldwide Airport in Columbus round 7:45 a.m. and was headed to Phoenix. The fireplace was detected a short while later and the Boeing 737 returned to the airport, the place firefighters shortly doused the flames.
It wasn’t clear what number of passengers and crew members have been aboard the plane. The airline stated the airplane was taken out of service for upkeep and it was working to get the passengers on different flights.
Airport officers stated the ability remained working as regular and the fireplace solely triggered some minor flight delays.
The Federal Aviation Administration will examine.
