NFL Corridor of Famer Dave Wilcox lifeless at 80


Linebacker Dave Wilcox, a standout on the 49ers of the late Sixties and early Nineteen Seventies, died Wednesday on the age of 80, the Professional Soccer Corridor of Fame introduced.

Wilcox made seven Professional Bowls and was a part of three straight 49er playoff groups from 1970-72.

“Dave Wilcox was an awesome man,” 49ers CEO Jed York tweeted. “He might be missed.”

After enjoying at Oregon, Wilcox was drafted by each the NFL’s 49ers and AFL’s Oilers.

“Unhappy to listen to of Dave Wilcox passing,” tweeted Chris Lengthy, former Rams defensive finish and son of Corridor of Famer Howie Lengthy. “That dude was superior. All the way down to earth and an absolute badass. Went into the Corridor with my pops and liked being round him. Was so cool to us. His household is superior. Relaxation straightforward.”

Wilcox was enshrined within the Corridor of Fame in 2000.

“Whereas Dave Wilcox was nicknamed ‘The Intimidator’ for his aggressive model of play, he was a form, humble and gracious man in all different points of life,” Corridor of Fame President Jim Porter mentioned. “He reworked the skin linebacker place — one of many many feats that earned him a perpetually house in Canton.”
