Youth wrestler sucker punches opponent after loss


A horrific video captured a youth wrestler sucker punching his opponent after a match.

The incident befell in Oak Park, Illinois throughout a third-place 125-128 pound match on the 2023 Beat the Streets Developmental FS event.

Cooper Corder of SPAR Academy, sporting an orange singlet, received the match over Maine West Excessive Faculty’s Hafid Alicea (in blue) by a 14-2 rating between the eighth graders. 

As Corder went in for a post-match handshake, he was cold-cocked by Alicea, sending him to the mat.

Alicea seemed to be getting escorted away as these in attendance reacted with shock.

Corder suffered a nostril harm and is now sporting a face masks throughout his matches, TMZ reported.

“He’s making one of the best of the state of affairs and is already again to coaching,” SPAR Academy founder Justin Pearch told TMZ Sports. “As you might know, wrestling matches can get heated however nothing main as much as the punch would give trigger to such unhealthy decision-making on the opponent’s half.

“It’s not tolerated in our sport and Spar Wrestling won’t ever condone that conduct.”

Oak Park Police Division is reportedly investigating the incident.
