And with that full slate, she’s unlikely to be holding court in Genovia once more. 

While her Princess Diaries costar Anne Hathaway suggested her once awkward AF Mia Thermopolis would be returning to the fictional European country for the comedy’s third iteration, Andrews has no plans to reclaim her crown as Queen Clarisse Renaldi.

“It’s probably not going to be possible at this point,” Andrews told Access Hollywood in 2022. “It’s how many years later and I’m that much older and Anne, the princess, now the queen, is so much older and I am not sure if it would float or run.”

Hathaway, however, is happily pushing it down the track. 

Though the film hasn’t been official greenlit, “One hundred percent, we’re constantly working on it,” Hathaway stressed to Entertainment Weekly in April. It was just when she slipped back into Andy Sach’s stilettos for The Devil Wears Prada 2, “it became impossible to focus on both at the same time.”
