DJ LeMahieu faced Gerrit Cole in a live batting practice showdown, hitting a pair of line drives off curveballs before Cole returned the favor with a strikeout in their third matchup.

Friendly fire

In Ian Hamilton’s second inning of live batting practice, Gleyber Torres and Anthony Volpe hit hard ground balls right back at Hamilton.

The reliever avoided damage, though, by snagging Torres’ with his glove and jumping over Volpe’s.

Caught my eye

Top pitching prospects Will Warren and Chase Hampton threw live batting practice and faced Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, Giancarlo Stanton, Alex Verdugo and Trent Grisham.

“They definitely went up against the big boys today and looked the part,” manager Aaron Boone said.

Thursday’s schedule

The Yankees continue full-squad workouts at Steinbrenner Field ahead of Saturday’s Grapefruit League opener against the Tigers in Lakeland, Fla.
