An Ohio library got a nearly century-old surprise when a patron returned a book that was checked out 93 years ago.
The Licking County Library in Newark, Ohio posted a video of the book — a poetry anthology titled “Heart Throbs: The Old Scrap Book,” on its Instagram page this week, showing its stamped due-date slip and a bookmark still left inside.
In the video, a library employee explained that the patron found the book in her great aunt’s house.

The book had a list of library rules inside its cover, which detailed a charge of 2 cents per day for overdue items.
“It’s a good thing we are now fine free,” the person quipped in the clip.
